NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service and a Flushing Overview

Flushing is a neighborhood in the northern part of Queens, which you can visit with your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service. It is home to large Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Indian, Hispanic, and African American communities.

Chart new territory

Before Europeans arrived in New York, the Matinecoc Native Americans occupied the land that is now Flushing. The town was later settled in 1645 under a charter from the Dutch West India Company. It is said that the name in Dutch means "salt meadow" in honor of the tidal waters. Flushing was once the home of the east coast film industry, before Hollywood became the epicenter. People like Bob Hope and the Marx Brothers appeared in movie palaces and host vaudeville acts. Unfortunately, you cannot visit many of these places with your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service because they fell into disrepair in the 1990s.

Make your way here

You don't need your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service to get to Flushing. It is part of the air, rail, and bus links that connect New York. The subway comes here on the IRT Flushing Line, with a stop at Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. Over a dozen bus routes also serve the area and connect it with other communities in Queens. If you do decide to take your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service, the Van Wyck Expressway, Whitestone Expressway, Grand Central Expressway, and Long Island Expressway serve the area. La Guardia airport is also very close, only 10 minutes away.

Take me out to the ballgame

Shea Stadium, home of the Mets, is found in Flushing. Baseball games start in March and run until October. Tickets to see the Mets can be purchased before the game, or through other venues such as online ticket stores. Ticket vary in cost, depending on the game category and the location of your seats. In general, they run from $70 for a platinum game in the inner field box to $5 for a value game in the upper reserved area. Parking is available for your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service for a fee. Since the stadium is located near LaGuardia Airport, this is said to be one of the loudest stadiums in the country due to planes flying into and out of the airport.

Make a day of it

Flushing has a number of interesting buildings to see when you visit with your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service. Town Hall on Northern Boulevard is the headquarters for the Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts. There are a number of concerts and cultural events that take place here. The Flushing Armory is also a registered landmark. There are a number of large mansions between 29th Avenue and 35th Avenue, and 155 Street and 164 Street. You can see the outside of these great houses from your NYC Airport Limousines Driver Service. There are remnants from the World's Fair in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The Queens Museum of Art is housed here and features a model of New York City. Queens Zoo is also located nearby.
